Holger re-joined CDC in 2012 as Managing Director to build CDC’s new Debt business.
Holger has over 20 years of experience in development finance in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe across a broad range of industries. Before his current role, he was with DEG, the German Development Finance Institution, where he was responsible for building DEG’s equity and mezzanine team and held various senior management positions. He previously worked as a commercial banker with Deutsche Bank.
Holger holds Masters degrees in Economics from University of Freiburg in Germany and Wayne State University, USA.
Jeremy joined CDC in 2010 to design and implement a debt and guarantee business strategy across the CDC geography.
This incorporates direct provision of debt products by CDC as well as debt fund investments. He has a 20 year career in emerging market corporate banking, debt capital markets, trade finance and asset trading through positions at Mizuho Corporate Bank and London Forfaiting Company with direct origination, structuring and relationship management experience across many CEEMEA markets.
Jeremy is a former scholar of St. John’s College, Oxford and speaks several languages.
Investment Director, Head of Project Finance
Iain joined CDC’s debt team in November 2016 to head the Project Finance business. He has 15 years’ experience at Nedbank’s Corporate and Investment Bank in South Africa in infrastructure Project Finance. During this time, he held senior positions in the Infrastructure division.
Iain brings extensive project finance experience across a broad range of infrastructure sectors, across South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa, including telecoms (where he led Nedbank’s Telecommunications team), road and rail infrastructure, African real estate, agri-processing, general infrastructure and water. He brings experience as lead arranger of transactions and debt syndicates. For the first ten years of his career, Iain worked in engineering, property development and business consulting.
Iain Holds an MBA from Wits Business School and a BSc and MSc from Wits University Johannesburg. Iain holds South African national colours for rowing.
Geoffrey joined CDC in September 2012 as Investment Director in the Debt team to help build a portfolio of sustainable investments in CDC’s core geographies.
Prior to joining CDC, Geoffrey was a Chief Investment Officer in the private sector operations department at the African Development Bank where he was responsible for leading teams in corporate and project finance transactions in a variety of sectors, including agribusiness, energy and financial services. Previously, Geoffrey was an Associate at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and an analyst at Mercer Consulting.
Geoffrey holds an MBA from HEC Paris.
Investment Director, Head of Financial Institutions, Debt
Ndaba joined CDC in January 2017 as Investment Director, Financial Institutions.
Prior to this he was Principal Investment Officer and Equity Specialist in the Financial Institutions Group of the International Finance Corporation, originating and processing debt and equity deals in the financial services sector in Southern and East Africa.
Ndaba has more than 25 years of corporate and investment banking, as well as private equity fund management experience, having worked for the Standard Chartered Bank Group and for private equity funds in the Africa region. His sector knowledge and experience includes investing into the financial services, retail and distribution, consumer goods, agro-processing as well as industrial businesses.
Ndaba holds a Master of Business Administration from Henley Business School, a Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Cambridge, and a Bachelor of Science Honours in Economics.
Investment Director, Head of Corporate Debt
Richard joined CDC in November 2016 to lead the newly established Corporate Debt team. He has over 20 years of experience originating and structuring loan and other credit products in private and public markets across sectors and geographies.
Richard’s career prior to CDC was with Barclays Capital in various locations globally, with the most recent 9 years based out of Singapore as Head of Loan Capital Markets, Asia-Pacific.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from the University of Sydney.
Nicolas joined CDC in August 2015 as Investment Director in the Debt team to help grow significantly the debt investments portfolio and strengthen CDC’s origination and execution capabilities in that field.
Nicolas has over 16 years of experience in corporate banking, project finance and structured finance, of which 12 are exclusively in emerging markets and the last 9 years focusing on Africa.
Prior to joining CDC, Nicolas was Head of Project & Structured Finance at FBN Bank UK where he set up the department from scratch, building a portfolio of transactions across Sub-Saharan Africa in sectors such as energy, infrastructure, power, transport and construction. Previously, Nicolas was a Vice-President at BMCE International, a Senior Associate with ABC International and a Project Manager with BNP Paribas.
Nicolas holds an MBA from London Business School.
Bradley joined CDC in 2012 as an Investment Executive to assist with the development of the debt portfolio.
Prior to his current role, Bradley worked as a Credit Analyst for Barclays Corporate as part of a team responsible for evaluating corporate credit proposals for the International portfolio. In 2006,
Bradley graduated at the University of Cape Town with a B.Bus.Sci (Hons) degree in Quantitative Management. He is a CFA Charterholder.
Nikhil joined CDC in 2014 with a focus on identifying, assessing and executing direct debt investment opportunities in South Asia and Africa.
Prior to joining CDC, Nikhil worked for the Macquarie Group in M&A advisory, corporate strategy and principal investing.
Initially joining Macquarie’s investment banking division advising corporate and private equity clients, Nikhil later contributed to the growth of a start-up infrastructure investment platform, responsible for investing capital on behalf of institutional investors.
Nikhil graduated from the University of Warwick with a BSc (Hons) degree in Economics. He has lived in London, Lagos and Mumbai and is involved in entrepreneurial and social development initiatives in India and the UK.
Maïa Schuh joined CDC's Debt team in 2012 as an Investment Executive.
Maia has 6 years' experience working on loans and guarantees in Africa and other emerging markets with Standard Bank and prior to that with the Moroccan headquartered BMCE International in London.
Her transaction track record includes Import Finance, Pre-Export Finance, Project Finance and Asset Finance - mainly in the commodity area (agricultural commodities, energy and mining).
Maia holds a Masters in Management from HEC Paris.
Belinda spent the last 6 years with the financial markets department of the IFC, based in Accra, from where she covered Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the Gambia.
Prior to joining the IFC, Belinda was a banker with the United Bank of Africa (Ghana). She has an MBA (Finance) from the University of Ghana.
Emma joined CDC's Debt team in April 2015.
Prior to joining CDC Emma spent three years working at VTB Capital in London, focusing on structured lending to sovereigns and corporates across CEEME.
Emma graduated from the University of Durham with a BA (Hons) degree in Philosophy, Politics & Economics, and has travelled throughout East Africa and South Asia.
Wandile joined CDC in November 2015, having spent the last 4 years working in investment banking, 3 years of which were focused on the Infrastructure sector in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Prior to joining CDC, Wandile worked at Rand Merchant Bank (a division of FirstRand Bank Limited), and was involved in the execution of project finance transactions in Sub-Saharan Africa. This included a number of renewable energy transactions in South Africa, in wind, solar PV and CSP technologies. His experience also includes executing project finance deals in West Africa, including landmark thermal IPPs in the region.
Wandile holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town, and is a CFA Charterholder.
Dania joined CDC in September 2016 as Investment Executive in the Debt team.
Prior to CDC, Dania worked for over six years with Standard Chartered Bank in their Natural Resources Investment Banking and High Yield Debt Capital Market teams in Pakistan, Singapore, Dubai and London. She has covered a wide range of industries including mining, oil and gas, commodity traders, TMT, shipping, power and automobiles.
Dania holds a Masters in Finance from London Business School (UK) as well as an MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (Pakistan).
John joined CDC in September 2016 and focuses on originating and executing debt investment opportunities across Africa and South Asia.
Prior to joining, he spent four years at Deutsche Bank in London, most recently in Strategy and before that in Credit, where he worked on transactions across several industries including financial services, transportation, and energy.
John graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Economics from the University of Warwick.
Cécile joined CDC in June 2017 and focuses on originating and executing debt investment opportunities across Africa and South Asia.
Prior to joining CDC, Cécile spent three years working in private equity and leveraged finance in London, where she worked on transactions across several industries including healthcare, consumer, business services, education and agribusiness. Previously she worked for six months at Lazada in Bangkok and in finance in Paris for a year. Cécile has also worked with an NGO operating in the coffee sector in Uganda, Rwanda and Burundi.
Cécile graduated with an MSc in Finance from ESSEC Business School in Paris. She speaks English, French and Spanish.
Marie joined the Debt team in January 2017.
Prior to joining CDC, Marie worked for two years at HCF International Advisers, a London based advisory boutique specialising in financing large mining and infrastructure projects in Africa. Previously she worked in the M&A team at HSBC plc covering the resources and energy sectors.
Marie holds a Master of Science in Mineral and Energy Economics from Colorado School of Mines, a Master of Science in Petroleum Economics and Management from the IFP School and a Diplome d’Ingénieur (French MEng. equivalent) from Centrale Lyon.
Parth joined CDC in October 2015 and focuses on direct debt investment opportunities in South Asia and Africa.
Prior to his current role, Parth spent over three years at Barclays Capital in New York in Fixed Income Research, where he was responsible for covering telecom, cable, media and technology companies.
Parth holds a BSc in Economics (with a concentration in Finance) from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and BA in Biology from College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania. He speaks English, Gujarati and Hindi.
Sam joined CDC in August 2016 and focuses on originating and executing debt investment opportunities in South Asia and Africa.
Prior to CDC, Sam worked at Barclays Bank across coverage, restructuring and project finance teams, with a focus on the renewables industry. He also has professional experience working in the aerospace engineering sector and was previously an English teacher at a government school in Hong Kong.
Sam holds a Masters of Mechanical Engineering (MEng) from the University of Bath. He is also an associate member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers and is an AMCT holder.
PA to Debt team
Leanna joined CDC as a Team PA in May 2017. Prior to joining the Debt team, Leanna worked as a PA for several High Net Worth Individuals both in the UK and the USA. She has a degree in Art History with a concentration in Museum Studies.

Aga joined the Debt team as a PA in September 2016. Before that, Aga was a member of CDC's reception team. Prior to joining CDC in December 2014, Aga worked in the Client Service team at BNP Paribas for three years. Aga has a degree in Archaeology.

Zofia joined CDC in September 2017 and is PA to Holger Rothenbusch as well as supporting other members of the Debt team. Prior to joining CDC, Zofia was a Senior Executive Assistant at Deloitte Real Estate and moved with her team when it was acquired by Gerald Eve.
