What we do: Investment strategy
CDC is a fund of funds, investing our capital with fund managers with expertise in emerging markets.
We do not make direct investments in companies.
We have, instead, chosen an intermediated approach which we believe enables us to leverage capital from other investors, increasing capital flows to markets where there is great need.
With net assets of £2.7 billion, our target is to make at least 70% of our investments in the poorer countries of the world* and the remaining 30% in countries which are classified as poor**. To view a list of these countries, click here.
We also target at least 50% of our investments in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.
* Countries where Gross National Income (GNI) per head is less than US$1,750.
** Countries where GNI per head is less than US$9,075
