Nick Rouse

External Investment Committee member

Nick is an experienced commercial banker who worked for Barclays Bank for 33 years between 1972 and 2005 specialising in the latter part of his career in Risk. He was Risk Director for Barclays City of London business, its leasing business Barclays Mercantile Business Finance, and Barclays Africa and a voting member of Barclays Group Credit Committee.

In 2005 Nick became Managing Director of Frontier Markets Fund Managers Limited, the manager of two emerging market debt funds, the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund and GuarantCo. The two funds collectively deployed over USD 1.3 billion of debt and debt instruments, predominantly in sub-Saharan Africa, under his stewardship.

He retired from full time employment in 2014 but remains a non-executive director of Frontier Markets Fund Managers and FCMB Bank UK and a member of the investment committees of AgDevCo and CDC.

He is the author of six books on lending and was the Chief Examiner for the subject at the Chartered Institute of Bankers for an eleven year period.
